When I tried to describe this blog and came up with the phrase you see above, it started me thinking about my pursuit of happiness and what others do in their pursuit of their own personal version of happiness.
I believe each of us has his/her own definition of happiness. My pursuit of happiness has taken me in many directions and in and out of many situations through the years. That is what I hope to be writing about here. So, am I happy?
The truth is – I am not unhappy. In many ways I am definitely happy and grateful for so many opportunities I’ve had and things I now enjoy.
I hope that I have never felt or acted in a manner that indicated I felt that my happiness was more important than my treating others with respect, compassion, and fairness.
I’m sure that my actions have made others unhappy on numerous occasions, not because I intended it but because they chose to be unhappy and hold my actions responsible for it.
Some people seem to be happiest when they are manipulating others into doing their bidding; or otherwise abusing their trust and or ignorance to gain personal advantage, power, riches etc. I cite Bernie Madoff in the US and Luis Villalobos in Costa Rica and all the other hucksters, liars, cheats big and small that prey on those unable through ignorance, laziness or lack of access, to defend themselves.
The current Global Economic situation is the result of those who have pursued their own personal quests for their version of happiness.
